46 And dude, it is time for another Fast Five for Friday. Are you ready? Let's get into it. Let's do it. All right. Number one, hit it. Number one, so the fortune is made and the follow-up. So one of the things we actually ran a training this week for both our members and our non-members, which was freaking awesome. But the beautiful piece of this, what we really discovered when we peeled back the curtain on what are those things that really make the difference in business as it relates to revenue, as it relates to sales, as it relates to creating a truly profitable company, it's having a solid follow-up strategy. And so for those that don't have that, they're leaving so much opportunity on their table. And here's the reality. It's the number one area that your competitors are not going to be hitting.
28 It's like open game for growing your business. So that was my first little aha this week. Obviously we've been aware of it. However, it just was such a good reminder of like, oh yeah, follow-up is kind of important. Yeah, so true. And I think it was also a great reminder. These are things, by the way, you guys, if you're listening to this, so often we're making these episodes with things that we need to be reminded of all the time. So that was a great reminder this week. And yeah, you know what? I think we can link up that training in the show notes, too. So if you want to get our training on follow up, we'll put a link to the replay in the show notes and you can go grab it. All right. Number two, intensity versus consistency. Are you operating primarily with intensity or consistency?
09 Let me tell you what I mean. Most people have a tendency to attack something with intensity instead of focusing on being consistent. A great example that everybody can relate to is, OK, on Monday, I'm going to the gym for two hours. I'm going to eat dry chicken and broccoli and I'm going to do it every day and I'm not drinking anything except for water. Until like Wednesday. When it all falls apart, it's so intense, but it's not consistent. So here's the message. Intensity is needed at times, but what matters at the end of the day is consistency. What are you willing to do over and over and over and over and over again in the pursuit of mastery, as opposed to these big grand gestures that you're going to go do every once in a while?
57 That's what's going to cause and create massive success at the end of the day. Love that. I think it's so smart, dude. Well, thank you, sir. Yeah. Number three. So I got, I had a really awesome quote this week that I grabbed from Brene Brown, who is the woman is just, she's, she's so good. She's so brilliant. But the quote was, you can choose courage or you can choose comfort, but you cannot choose both. And right now you're listening to this. Every time I read that, I'm like, God dang it. She nailed me with that one. And it's so true, right? Because honestly, courage is necessary to move beyond comfort. So if we choose comfort, we're literally basically making the choice not to choose courage because that's something that's going to take us outside of our comfort zone.
42 It's scary. It's uncertain. It's uncertain. And quite frankly, it's all the things that make anything really, really great at the end of the day. Your business, your health, your life, your sales, whatever it might be. You can choose comfort or you can choose courage, but you cannot choose both. Thank you, Brene Brown, for that beautiful nugget. So good. So, so good. I'm printing that one up. It's happening. I love it. All right. Take us to number four. So it's actually, I think it's a beautiful segue from Brene Brown's sentiment, right? So number four is think outside the box. The connection point between these two here is the quality of our questions is going to drive the quality of our answers. Hmm.
22 And so as it relates to this, right, like choosing courage versus choosing comfort, that's going to come from the quality of questions that we ask, right? And in our world, we get so swept into what's tried and true or what's going to make us feel certain or secure. And that's a fancy way of saying comfortable, right? Like we want to do certain things in our business that are going to give us that certainty that if I do this thing, it'll give me that result. Guess what? We put all this energy in, we think it's going to work out a specific way and then poof, it doesn't. So at the end of the day, are we going to be thinking inside the box or are we also going to be flexible enough to get outside that box and go, okay, what are some creative things I could do perhaps that are unorthodox or perhaps is there a different path?
04 The one that really popped up that triggered this this week for me. was I'm like, wait, where do we have a group of humans that we can support and help that we already have authority, meaning not authority in the sense of like superior, but authority in the sense that we are superior, but that's true. But that's, that's another episode. All right, go, go for it. That's number five, dude. You're letting the cat in the box. But it really was this piece of like, wait, is there a group of human beings on this planet that we can walk in the door and we can rock their world without having to do all the heavy lifting that's usually required with business and marketing, all the things. And it was like lightning bolt of holy crap. There's all these other areas that we haven't been participating in.
44 And it's just completely transformed my perspective, but also my calendar. My calendar is stacked right now because of that one new question that was outside the box. So anyways, that's number four. I love that. And I think that one of the things that I want to just highlight that I think is really powerful is that what you're talking about is really it's thinking outside of the box. It's engaging creativity. When we feel like there's just the one way, we've literally basically... And the same thing happens too when we build things up to some big cataclysmic event that we think is going to change and shift everything. And then it doesn't. We either can lay down Or we can start thinking creatively. And that goes back to, you know, asking a question instead of making a statement and really allowing the mind to open instead of closing it.
29 That's beautiful, dude. I love that. And I'm going to kind of piggyback off of that with number five today. So last week during a HIIT workout, I seriously injured my foot. And it was one of those things where it's serious, just totally pissed me off. As you know, Brooke, like I suck at being injured and anything that impedes what I like to do physically really pisses me off. The last week I do this HIIT workout. I finished the workout. Everything feels fine. Late that night, my foot is kind of like tight. And the next morning I step out of bed and I've got like shooting pain. And it wasn't something that lasted like for a day. We're nearly a week later here and I'm still dealing with it. Now, here's the interesting part about it.
11 In that moment, I was so pissed off. My first thought was, damn it. This just got in the way of this training plan that I'm doing right now. And I'm going to be honest. I don't like the training plan because it's really hard and it sucks. But I was intent on finishing it. And I was kind of like pity potty for a minute there. And then I'm like, you know what? Screw this. Fuck it. I'm going to just figure out a way around this thing. I'm not stopping. I can't do it exactly the way that it's prescribed because I can't do stuff like burpees and high knees and sprint intervals and all of that crap. But I'm going to find a way. And what it forced me to do, to your point, is I had to think outside of the box and go, okay, okay. I'm not stopping.
52 So how do I show up and get the physical activity that I want to get without going backwards? Because that's my main goal. It's like, I don't necessarily have to move it way forward here. But what I'm sure as hell not doing is losing all of the progress that I've made over the last two months because it's been really hard. And so I started looking at, all right, from a conditioning standpoint, like I can do still a lot of weight exercise and resistance training, but it's the conditioning that was hard. And I had to kind of go, all right, what are the things that I can do right now that will allow me to at least maintain where I am? And the cool part about that, and probably to your aha as well, is that when you start thinking that way, and then you just go do the thing, even though it's not exactly what you thought.
37 It feels so powerful. It feels so empowering and affirming. And we talk about this a lot, but it's like another identity chunk. When I get faced with adversity, I'm just going to spit in the face of adversity and keep going, even if it's not perfect. That's the message. I love that, man. So kudos for you for staying the course, bro. That's huge. And I'm bummed that you're in physical pain, but nobody puts Ryan in the corner. So that's exactly right. Nobody puts Ryan in the corner. All right. Well, I think we nailed it time wise, bro. Thank you again. I hope you enjoyed this episode of Fast Five for Friday on the Coaching Equation podcast. And we will see you next time.
