46 Hey, man. What's going on? All right. Ready for another edition of Fast Five for Friday. Number one, the magic is in the specifics. So, Brooke, I had a chance this week, as I do just about every week, to listen to some sales calls. And it was a great reminder. I had a couple of really powerful examples of how in the discovery process, most people stay in the general instead of getting specific. And so often it's the specifics that are really going to give not us, but the person that we're on the phone with or on the call with. the opportunity to have enough leverage to move.

27 So to give an example of this really quickly is like, for example, if you are in a weight loss offer and you say, okay, so tell me what brought you to the call today? And they say, well, yeah, I'm overweight. Okay, okay, great. And then we just move on, right? Well, exactly how overweight are you? What exactly what do you weigh right now? What is your ideal weight? How long have you weighed what you currently weigh? How long has it been since you were at your ideal weight? How long has it been since you actually felt good? Where would you really like to be?

08 I mean, in the span of like 20 seconds, we just got all kinds of specifics that are going to be absolutely key in helping this person move towards what they really want. So it's absolutely vital that in your discovery process and sales, you got to get the specifics and stay out of the general. Working with Tony Robbins, it used to drive me nuts, by the way, but he used to say the power is in specificity. That word, every time we had an executive meeting, it was like, I need more specifics. I need more specifics. And I was just like, that first meeting, I'm like, oh my God, if I hear that word one more time. But it made sense. That's where good decisions can be made. And that's where the magic really happens. 100%, buddy. All right, lead us into number two. Number two. So for this week, it was really interesting.

48 Now with the impending autumn winter season coming, you know, we've been unconsciously buckling down, like staying inside a bit more than I would say we normally do. And my wife and I were like, we got to get out of the house. Yeah. And we just got out, even though it was chilly and brisk, we just went for a drive, got out into the mountains, got our bare feet on the ground, got our feet in the river. It was freezing cold, but it just was so rejuvenating. And so for anyone that's unconsciously buckling down and staying in your house and avoiding the cold, get outside, reconnect, get some vitamin N. And yeah, it was just for me, it was just one of those felt like I took a week long vacation, but not all reality. It was, you know, just a couple hour drive and reconnecting with mother nature.

30 So yeah. I love that. And that's so real. I feel exactly the same way. And it definitely gets easy for any of us that live in colder weather climates in the wintertime to get in a little bit more of that hibernation mode. And man, one of the beautiful things about living here in Colorado, as we do... is that, you know, the sun is shining, baby, even when it's typically cold and stuff like that. So I love that, man. That's a really, really good distinction. And I think especially helpful when your stress is at a high level, or you're really kind of grinding away or got a big project you're working on or something like that. It's a great time to make sure that you're doing that really vital. All right, number three, 10X is easier than 2X.

10 So this is a book that we love a lot around here. And for those of you that are not familiar with it, it is Dr. Benjamin Hardy and Dan Sullivan. And I'm on probably, I don't know, my fifth or sixth time reading or listening to this book. And I don't know what it was. You know what I think it was? I think it was probably Steven Pressfield's Turning Pro that made me want to come back to this one again. It motivated me, had me excited. And then I was like, oh, I need more. I need to get back in this. And one of the things that it really brought out for me this time around so far is how easy it is to get into a rut of just not asking big enough questions.

56 Like, you know, and an example, like I actually thought about this as an example as I was reading the book because I won't go too deep in it. But basically, if you haven't read the book, you haven't listened, you need to go grab it right after this episode, by the way. But one of the big points in the book is that 2x is actually, I mean, basically, we have infinite ways to get to 2x. Whereas when we start thinking and asking questions around 10x, all of the different ways that we can get there shrink down to, you know, a nominal amount. And what I thought about in that moment, and this is a little bit, I mean, on some level, it's a little bit silly, but it's a great example. Yeah. is this Friday, we've got a thing that we're going to be doing for my daughter for her birthday.

41 And I was thinking to myself, well, if I wanted to go out and get a hotel for 200 bucks a night, there would be an infinite amount of options. And not only an infinite amount of options in terms of available places that we could go, but an infinite amount of ways for me to pay for it. But if I was like, you know what, I want to find a hotel for $2,000 a night. Whoa, all of a sudden, the number of places that I could go shrink down really small. And the ways that I'm going to pay for it. Well, I don't have a bazillion different ways to pay for that now. Now I got a couple of different ways that I would go about it. So it was really a powerful example.

22 And I'm really excited to kind of go back through this thing again, because it's yet again, for the umpteenth time, bringing up some really big stuff for me. I love that, dude. Such a good book. Anyone who hasn't listened to it, if you're looking for your next Audible, grab that one. Yeah, I agree with you. I think I've gone through it two and a half times. So you're definitely on that fast track of mastery. I love it. I hope so. All right, number four. Number four. So this is an interesting one. So for us, you know, my kids, they love their video games, as I think most kids these days do. But we busted out all the old school games this last week. And so it was a real good reminder. I'm one of those people that I'll just put my, I mean, you know this, but I just put my head down and I grind, grind, grind, grind until I basically fall over.

05 And it was just a great reminder of like, have fun and play. Find ways to gamify things, especially as it relates to business, as it relates to the things that we do. There's moments in time where it can feel like we're grinding and we're pushing hard and we're trying to, you know, reach more clients, have a bigger impact, add more value. And within that, if we're not having fun, it's a fast track to burning out. And it was another, as you can probably tell, this week was a lot about rejuvenation, getting out in nature, playing games, having fun. So, yeah, that was the big distinction for me. I busted out one of my favorite old games that I had to order. And this is crazy. Did you ever play Stratego? Oh, absolutely. Yeah. So I didn't realize this. I went to purchase the game on Amazon and they don't make it anymore.

48 So I had to go find like a vintage reseller to find the game. And yeah, it was just an absolute blast getting to teach the kids and play some old games. Yeah. That's so awesome. I love that. And I think that, yeah, I love that you tie that to business because I was actually thinking, it's so funny you bring this up. I was thinking about this literally just this week. Oftentimes, I think when we have challenges, we get mired in the challenge and, you know, stress ourselves out with, you know, trying to figure it out. What if it was fun? What if all of a sudden I got to have fun going to figure this out? It's like, okay, you know, I lost five clients this past month. Oh my God, how do I replace them?

29 Instead, why can't we go, oh man, all right, sweet, game on. Like, let's gamify this, baby, game on. Let me go figure out the ways that I can do this. This is exciting, right? And I think the thing that's great about that too, Brooke, is that it's similar to the way our favorite board games can challenge us. It's a challenge. And if we embrace that challenge, then it can be fun and it can be a creative process. So that's really great. All right, so bringing us home, I had a great moment as a dad over the weekend when I got to watch my girls perform in Disney's Descendants. They had two performances this weekend. And, you know, as I was sitting there on Saturday evening, both of them had improved so significantly from the last show that I watched of theirs.

12 And first of all, it was a really awesome, proud dad moment. But in addition to that, you know, they have been obsessed. over the last couple of months with the show. And it was such a great example out in the quote unquote outside world of what can happen when we buckle down and we focus and we commit to something. Massive improvement when we push all the other things aside. So with that said, we are out of time, my friend. Good stuff today.
