46 Hey, dude. What up, what up? Time for another Fast Five for Friday. And this is a unique one because we are going to jam out on the five big takeaways that we had just having wrapped up our in-person event here in beautiful Northern Colorado this past weekend. Brooke, kick us off with number one. Number one, this might come as a shock to people, or at least it's a shock to me this week, the importance of having recovery time. We adjusted our days of when we host our events. We moved it a day. So our events are now on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. in our mind, I think, or at least for me, I was like, oh, we'll have Sunday off and then we'll, that'll give us a day of reprieve before we go back into the work week.
28 Not factoring in that we had to do a loadout and we did a whole debrief and Sunday was quite a full day. And then not also factoring in like, oh yeah, we have, we have families and like a house and like animals and a life. It was like, holy crap. There really was no, there was no recovery time to go off of that and straight back into the work week. So for me, Yeah. Having rest, I'm seeing that it's more and more important. So yeah, I couldn't agree more. And if you, you know, you're listening to this right now, if you could have seen Brooke and Vanessa and I staring blankly at each other on Sunday. What's your name? What do you do?
08 Boy, boy, like what's my name? Where am I? What happened? Where am I? Oh, it's so true. And I think it's a, it's one of those learnings, one of those adjustments that you got to make sure that you get, you can't burn the house down. You can't redline it all the time. That was definitely a big one. All right. Number two, power of proximity. This is, I feel like this is one that we get reminded about every time we do an event, but I think this one in particular felt special from that standpoint. And in this day and age of Zoom and everything is happening virtually, the truth of the matter is that people are craving connection more than ever. We were really feeling it going into the event and man, did it pop off when we were actually there.
55 The energy in the room, the connection, actually having people there right next to you, doing the work alongside of you, helping you through. There's no substitute for that. And I think it's one of the things that I would encourage everybody who's listening to this right now to think of like, man, if I'm not creating a way for my clients to connect with me on an in-person level, gosh, I would encourage you to think about it because it's insanely powerful, especially right now. And we saw this again just this past weekend. Here's just the reality. The magic happens in the room. Yep. There's a part of me that wants to run with that and I won't.
35 Well, no, you're a hundred percent right. The magic happens in the room and the magic did happen in the room. There's no question. There was a whole lot of incredible energy that was popping off. because of the people that were there, because of what they were committed to, because of the environment, all of the things. And I think one of the other things that I'll just make mention of is that we actually see some of the biggest and best progress in terms of our clients on the backside of an in-person event. Mm-hmm. And a lot of that is the way that we set it up, but that's part and parcel to the true power of proximity. All right, lead us into number three, buddy. Number three is the power of CANI, which is the acronym is C-A-N-I.
15 So the power of CANI. CANI stands for Constant and Never-Ending Improvement. So it's a little acronym we stole from Mr. Tony Robbins back in the day. But here's the power of it. That Sunday when we thought we were having a day off, we spent more than half of the day looking at what worked well in the event. What do we want to repeat? What could have been better? What was an absolute failure? And guess what? We had a couple. But there's always this opportunity for things to be better and to be improved upon. And the thing that was really cool about this event, we took so many learnings from our previous event and we made some hypotheses and we applied them into this event. We saw the payoff of that in terms of just how much deeper we were able to help people connect and just the energy in the room and down to seating arrangements.
02 And just there was a ton that we got to put into play that really had a profound impact. I'm so freaking excited for our next one because holy crap, it's going to be game changing. Yep. And I'll just say to you, man, a stack on your point, when you do this and you do it every single time and you commit to it and you're really willing to be open and honest, that's where I think a lot of people get tripped up is that, yeah, sometimes it doesn't feel good to have to admit that you had some slip ups or you had some outright failures that in an event. But the truth is that it's all data. We either win or we learn. That's got to be the attitude. And if you take that attitude, I can tell you from our events, like, as you said, we felt like we've gotten better every single time.
44 And I think even the feedback that we get from the events would tell us exactly that. But it's massively powerful and it puts you in a position to make decisions about how to make it better the next time. And if we're not looking for that, why are we even doing this in the first place? Right. So great, great points. All right. So number four is the importance of taking time to actually do the work. So in our events, one of the things that makes our live events quite a bit different than a lot of other live events is that we don't do rah-rah live events. This is not like show up and you just just loud music pumping all the time. And the only thing that we're doing is just filling you with a bunch of really motivational stuff that all has its place.
25 And we've all been there. And that's nice. But our events are really about rolling up your sleeves and getting real work done. That's what they're about. And there is unbelievable power in doing exactly that because we're I think that in the world of coaching and personal development and professional development in general, I think it's too easy to fall into a trap of being a consumer. We were just talking about this with the coaches earlier today, but I think it's too easy to fall into the trap of just consuming material and then doing nothing with it. And there is immense power in basically saying, I'm going to hole up in a room of other amazing human beings for a couple of days.
08 And we're going to actually get shit done. We're not going to talk about it. We're not going to think about it. We're not going to dream about it. We're not going to hypothesize about it. We are going to do the work. That's what happened this weekend. It was unbelievably powerful. And one of the things that I want to share on this front, Brooke, when we showed up to the event, one of the coolest things that somebody said to us all weekend long was one of our clients, Janelle, coming to us and going, listen, listen. After the last quarterly event, we baked out our plan and we'd done the work. And one of my big celebrations is that we have actually, and this is a couple, we have actually hit all of the goals that we set out in the last event. That's freaking bananas.
49 And by the way, this was on like December 6th, meaning she's got a whole other month. Three more months or three weeks. Right? Yeah. Yeah. So that's amazing. So much power that goes into actually doing the work. And to bring it home, number five, this is really one that, man, it just made my heart sing after the weekend was over, even as exhausted as we were. And that is learn to serve your team, not just your clients. So often those of us that are focused on our business and the service that we're providing, we're constantly focused on serving our clients and doing a better job of that and thinking outside the box and unreasonable hospitality around serving our clients.
32 And we don't think about our team. And one of the things that I think was most special about this weekend, Brooke, is that we had the opportunity to provide some really, really special experiences for our team members. And that meant so much. I mean, it just cultivated truly an air of love and reciprocity and togetherness and even more buy-in on the mission and what we're doing and our clients today. It felt freaking incredible. And I think it's just something that a lot of people don't think about as often as we probably should. it strengthened not only their gratitude and reciprocity back towards us, but then it became like this infinity loop, right?
16 They're loving on us, they're giving, we're loving on them, we're giving. And it's like now there's this synergy that just went to a whole new level. So pretty magical. It really was. And with that, we are at time. Thank you for listening to this episode of the Coaching Equation Podcast. This has been Fast Five for Friday. Until next time, Brooke. Thanks, buddy. Hasta.
