Welcome back to the Coaching Equation Podcast.

41 I'm your host, Ryan Lang, CEO and co-founder of Empire Partners, alongside my co-founder and co-host, Brooke Bishop. Hey, dude. What's going on? You know what time it is. It is time for another Fast Five for Friday. So let's dig in. So number one, man, I really love this sentiment. Volatility is the byproduct, is oftentimes a byproduct of insufficient volume. And I want to explain that really quickly. A lot of times we look at things in our business and we go, well, this is not working. And, you know, or this is broken. And especially the analogy that I want to use here, because this can apply like all over the place in our business.

25 But the analogy that I want to use, because I think a lot of people listening will understand it, is in the context of Facebook ads. Like there are so many times where people would go, yeah, but my ads aren't working. Yeah. And in a lot of cases, it's not that they're not working. It's just that you haven't run enough volume yet for them to work with your specific offer. And we talk about this also in the context of sales. There is no substitute for volume. So if you're taking five sales calls a week, And you're like, oh, I suck at sales or I can't close anyone or my, you know, enrollment percentage sucks.

11 I'm not making any money. This is not working. You need more volume. That's, you know, it's not that it's broken. It's just that you need more volume. So that was one that I got this week that I thought was just really, really, it hit me like a hammer. And I think we see it all over the place in different businesses. Yeah. I love, love that dude. I think it's spot freaking on. And it's so true. And the other, the way to prove it, prove it right is when you have a flood of volume and you get to really see how well things are playing. It just shines a light on it. So love that. 100%. All right. Number two. All right. Number two, yeah, man.

51 So I've been, actually, I've read this book three times in a row now over the last three weeks. It's called The Seven Frequencies of Communication by Erwin McManus. And you know me, I'm kind of a sucker for personality assessments or, you know, strength finders and all the different tools and assessments that are out there. This one, for whatever reason, is just really hitting home. Part of it has been very confronting because as I read through it the first time, I'm like, I'm definitely not that. Yeah, you are. You're that. Like, crap. So I've just been having to have a lot of come to Jesus conversations with myself and really looking at where it shows up. And it's a good thing. But it's also given me somewhat of just the ability to lean into it now I'm perceiving as actually a superpower, whereas I would have looked at it differently prior.

39 Anyways, I'm rambling on about this. There was a quote in the book that was fantastic. And it says that it is not about purely understanding that. It is about resonating. And so where this comes into play is, he says where two souls are in resonance, they become one. So in the world of what we do and in the world of sales or in the world of coaching, you know, so many times we're trying to tell people what to do or we're trying to move them down the line and get them to enroll or we want to coach them to do a specific action. I was like, you know what? It's so much more than just telling people what to do. When we really get into resonance, holy crap, that's when we actually get to be an influence.

20 And it just shifted. And there's so much of this we teach in our world in terms of when the Close Everyone program and we teach a lot of this, but it was so succinct and it was put into a single sentence that just hit home. It's not about understanding, it's about resonating. Like, freaking love it. Dude, I love that as well. And I think it's absolutely true. And I think that when, especially when you've done these types of things, as long as we have in the relationship game of any kind, you know that to be 100% true. There is a significant difference between the two of those. I love that. Great, great quote. I'm actually really, you've mentioned this book several times and I'm really excited to dig in on. I'm going to grab it. All right, number three.

02 So I'm going to take your quote and I will raise you another quote. You're quoting me. I will raise you another quote, sir. Where's Chad Cooper when we need him? So this one I caught this week and I really loved. I actually think and I've heard a lot of his quotes, but this one in particular, I don't think that I've heard. And this is Ralph Waldo Emerson. The only thing that can grow is the thing you give energy to. And that's absolutely true. Think about this right now as you're listening to this. What in your life, in your business, in anything is actually growing that you are not giving any energy to?

51 Nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Every, you know, and you go, that tees you up perfectly for the TR quote that'll go right behind that, which is? I'm going to triple stamp and double stamp. Do it. No, that was dumb and dumber. But Tony's quote is, you know, where focus goes, energy flows. Yep. Yeah, exactly. And I think that that's, you know, it gave me pause. It's not the first time I've thought of this because he Ralph Waldo Emerson is not the only person to ever speak about this, although he might have been one of the earlier ones. But it gave me pause to just kind of go, all right. And I think this is something that we want to do.

33 We should be doing on an active basis. What am I giving energy to right now? Hmm. what is really growing? Like, you know, there were a couple of moments in the last few weeks I had to deal with some tough stuff. And there's like fear lingering around. And I'm like, ooh, okay. Well, where am I spending my time? Where are my thoughts at? Where are my, you know, emotions going? What am I giving energy to? So I think it's a good time to check in and just kind of figure out where are you giving energy? And, you know, without question, that's what's going to be growing, so. Yeah. All right. Tee us up with number four, buddy. You just teed us up for number four. I think there's a perfect segue. So I caught myself quite a bit in these last couple of weeks of being the, what I used to wear as a badge of honor, of being the master of multitasking.

23 And so we're doing a project right now for a very big client who does a lot on time management. And there's a bunch of things. I'm sure we'll share more about this in the future. But what really caught me in that space of things is I'm like, wow, multitasking, although I can do it and although I'm really good at it. to the point of what we give our attention to, I'm diluting my attention to multiple things and I'm getting diluted results across multiple barriers. And so what I did the last couple weekends, I've allocated time early in the morning where I've scheduled time in to actually do work, which I know it's like, ooh, you're working on weekends? Oh no, you must be a workaholic.

03 No, I'm really passionate about the shit that we do. So I love working. So working to me doesn't feel like work. But... Here's been the magical piece. I have gotten more shit done on the hours on the weekend when I'm doing this work because it's so fixated and focused and I don't have any meetings booking up against it. I don't have any meetings before. I don't have any expectations other than being in the space and being able to dig in. And dude, I am getting stuff done like never before and like big stuff and complicated stuff and stuff that is honestly just like requiring my brain to wire back in different ways. And so I just want to encourage people, if you've got big projects on your plate, book that shit on the weekend.

44 I'm just going to very quickly agree with you a thousand percent. And we share this like I actually love to work on the weekends. And, you know, and it's mainly because of the fact that it's it's my flow time. Nobody's interrupting me. I can hang out in my office. I don't feel pressure to get things done. I feel like I can think I can be creative. Yeah. I can flow in and out of things, you know, without any kind of a major time construct. So I'm in a thousand percent agreement. And I will totally say, well, neither of us are fans of like the hustle grind culture. And that's the only way in the whole thing. That is not what we're talking about right now.

25 We're talking about optimizing the hours when you actually feel creative and can get into flow. And both of us happen to be in that space over the weekend. We actually do some of our best work together over the weekend, believe it or not. Anyway, good call. Snuggle buddies for life. That's right. We love to spoon. We love to spoon. Wrap this thing up. Yeah, right. Let me wind it down. I don't wrap anything up right now. Okay. Oh, boy. Back on track. Bring us home is a better sentiment. No, that doesn't still work with that. Fucking 10 minute episode. He's we've. All right. So in preparation for a presentation that I gave today, you know, I have been all in on really looking at different types of content and long form versus short form and content repurposing and all of the things.

23 And obviously with our podcast, we do, you know, some big long form content around here. And when I dug in on it, I wanted to back some of my theories up with statistics. And I want to drop a couple of stats on long form content, which, by the way, if you haven't noticed right now, is has has has basically leapfrogged short form content. Um, so let me, let me prove my theory with these stats that I dug up today. This, I, this is good stuff. So number one, 55% of podcast listeners listen to the entire episode. Um, and if you're listening to this right now, you better fucking listen to the entire episode. What do you think?

05 You think we just check out like the last 30 minutes? What are you doing if you're not doing that? The other 45% of you. But that's pretty good stat considering the amount of podcasts that are out there. Secondly, this one was a big one. LinkedIn articles get three times more engagement than short posts on LinkedIn. Really? Mm-hmm. Which is an interesting deal. That's one of the reasons I've always preferred that. I didn't know it, but it's one of the reasons that I've preferred that platform because I prefer longer form content, even when I'm writing. And two other ones I'm going to give you before we wrap up. Number one, the average audiobook listener.

45 completes 80% of a book. That's huge. Think about the time investment. Right? Compared to people who turn pages? Like that's... Whoa. We're talking about anywhere from probably on average, somewhere between five and nine hours for an audio book. And then lastly, here's the big one. YouTube long form videos, which we're going to say are qualified by 10 plus minutes or more, see 400% more watch time than shorts when it comes to educational content. Now, if you're listening to this right now, you're most likely in the education space or the information space in some way, shape or form.

28 You're not just giving out stuff for entertainment purposes. So that's a pretty big one. 400% more watch time. I kind of wish you would have started with this as the first one today, because there's going to be so many people that are not going to make it this far and hear this critical piece of information. Yeah, fucking 45% of people checked out like by a five minute mark. Oh, man. Well, anyway, it's pretty compelling stuff. If you're here, you're a statistic. That's exactly right. We learned, really, we do. All right, man. Well, we're a little bit over, but this was good stuff. Thank you for listening to this episode of the Coaching Equation Podcast.
